John 1:1-14 The Incarnation of Christ!

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 He was with God in the beginning.
3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men.
5 The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.

In the beginning of what? All that has been Created. Genesis 1:1-4 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. Who is the Word? Revelation 19:11-16 I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.” He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. With all the Truth of God’s Word, this is Jesus! Does the Bible teach that Jesus is God in Flesh? Look at verse 1. Yes Jesus is the WORD and is God; the Second Person of the Holy Trinity. Notice from the text vs. 4&5 that the Word was life and that Life was the Light of men. That Light shines in the Darkness. Now go back and read Genesis 1:14-19; And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so. God made two great lights– the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth, to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning– the fourth day. Notice very carefully that there was Light before God(including Jesus the Word, and Holy Spirit) Created the Sun, Moon and Stars on the fourth day of Creation! The Word is that Light!

6 There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John.
7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe.
8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.

Verse six refers to John the Baptist who we know was the forerunner to Jesus; Preparing the Way of the Lord. John the Baptist made it perfectly clear that he was not the Messiah, when he exclaimed John 1:29 The next day John(the Baptist) saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! We must Believe this proclamation and Repent of our sins, in order to be Saved.

9 The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world.
10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.
11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.

Jesus is the Light and He offers that Light to every human being. Men do not have an excuse for not believing in Jesus Christ. Romans 1:18-23 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities– his eternal power and divine nature– have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles. People refuse to Repent or give up their sinful ways and turn to the WORD (Jesus). People who refuse Jesus will continue to live in darkness because God gives them what they want. Believe me people we never want God to give us what we want! Verse 11 refers to when Jesus went to His hometown of Nazareth and would not preform many miracles because people refused to believe. This verse also refers to the rejection of the Jewish people concerning the Messiahship of Jesus.

12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God–
13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

Jesus, the Word and God, came that sinful man could be adopted into the family of God. Romans 8:12-17 Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation– but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of son ship. And by him we cry, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs– heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. Now for the issue of being born of God. Every single human being must be born again in Spirit of God in order for Salvation to be granted. John 3:3 In reply Jesus declared, “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.” Again John 3:13 No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven– the Son of Man. Listen to Jesus statement; John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. This is the Gift from the Babe of Bethlehem also known as the Word Incarnate!

14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Here is the Truth; Jesus is God Incarnate and dwelt among us! Listen to the definition of the word Incarnation; the Incarnation Theology is the doctrine that the second person of the Trinity assumed human form in the person of Jesus Christ and is completely both God and man. Now a Bible dictionary definition; that act of grace whereby Christ took our human nature into union with his Divine Person, became man. Christ is both God and man. Human attributes and actions are predicated of him, and he of whom they are predicated is God. A Divine Person was united to a human nature. God in Flesh AMEN! Now how are we to take all this into our hearts. I am going to say something that may be offensive to some, but the Lord’s Will be done! It is a Damnable heresy for Christians to pervert the celebration of the Incarnation (Christmas) with the Paganism of the World. I must say it again; It is a Damnable heresy for Christians to pervert the celebration of the Incarnation (Christmas) with the Paganism of the World. Santa Clause and the absolute materialism associated with the Paganism is a heresy because the WORD became flesh is Christmas. Some reading this will try to justify their viewpoint. I must quote a Scripture; James 4:4 You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. Again blending Paganism with Christianity is a Damnable heresy and must be Repented! Again listen to this passage; 1John 2:15-17 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world– the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does– comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever. Just Something to think about the next time you think of the Babe of Bethlehem! The Word is awesome and deserves our obedience without compromise. Revelation 4:11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”

Great Day! What a Wonderful Savior! I was pondering about the Christmas message and discovered a new found Truth. All the years of going to Church and Preaching has left me speechless concerning this Truth. This Truth has always been there and may not be new to you, but it is for this Preacher.  Here is the Truth; Elizabeth(John the Baptist mother) did not know Mary was carrying the Christ child. The Angel Gabriel told Mary that Elizabeth was 6 months pregnant. Elizabeth only knew that her cousin Mary was carrying the Christ child after Mary greeted her and John leaped for joy in his mothers womb and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. I always thought Elizabeth knew about Mary’s Miraculous Conception but she did not. Here is the Scriptures; Luke 1:35-45 The angel answered,(to Mary) “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month. For nothing is impossible with God.” “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May it be to me as you have said.” Then the angel left her. At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!” What a Truth to be shared! Thought I would share a Christmas thought.
