ImageThe Promises of God. Does God speak to His Children today?

I would like to share a few thoughts concerning the topic of God speaking to His children through His Promises. In God’s Word there are many Promises that God makes that are directed to those who fear Him, obey Him and who love Him. The Old Testament and the New Testament are filled with the Promises of God. Here are a few for our consideration;

Genesis 9:8 ¶ Then God spoke to Noah and to his sons with him, saying: 9 “And as for Me, behold, I establish My covenant with you and with your descendants after you, 10 “and with every living creature that is with you: the birds, the cattle, and every beast of the earth with you, of all that go out of the ark, every beast of the earth. 11 “Thus I establish My covenant with you: Never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood; never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.”

12 ¶ And God said: “This is the sign of the covenant which I make between Me and you, and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:

13 “I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth. 14 “It shall be, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow shall be seen in the cloud; 15 “and I will remember My covenant which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. 16 “The rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will look on it to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” 17 And God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth.”

Notice the reference to “all flesh” and not just Noah and his sons. What an awesome promise from God to all flesh. So every-time we see a rainbow it should remind us of God’s Promise. This is also Him speaking to His children, are we listening?

Exodus20:4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; 5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

Notice God’s statement in verse 6. This is a promise that He is speaking to not only the Covenant people Israel but for all who love Him and keep or obey His commandments. Again are you listening to God speak? God showing Mercy to thousands of generations who love Him is a much greater promise than that of the “visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children” of those who hate God! What an awesome Promise from the Only True and living God!
Deuteronomy 7:9 “Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;

10 “and He repays those who hate Him to their face, to destroy them. He will not be slack with him who hates Him; He will repay him to his face.

11 “Therefore you shall keep the commandment, the statutes, and the judgments which I command you today, to observe them.” So let us remember the Faithfulness of God’s Promises!

This next Promise from God is lengthy but well worth emphasizing! Notice the Promise of Eternal Life to “all” who would believe in the Son of God! Let us cling to Jesus Christ the Only Begotten Son of God and Enjoy Eternal Bliss!

John 3:13 “No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven.

14 “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up,

15 “that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

17 “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

19 “And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

20 “For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.

21 “But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”

God is so awesome there really is no words to explain the depth of this next Promise! “What we will be” when Jesus is revealed is far beyond the capacity of a finite mind to fully grasp! None the less it is a Precious Promise from the Father of Light! Are we listening?

1John 3:1 ¶ Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

What about the Promise of Revelation 3? Let us listen to it with fresh ears! To him who has ears to hear, let them hear what the Spirit says to the Churches! Indeed all seven Churches Jesus addresses has a Promise attached but this one is somewhat profound;

Revelation 3:7 ¶ “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, ‘These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens”:

8 “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. 9 “Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie–indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you.

10 “Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. 11 “Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown. 12 “He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. And I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.

13 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”‘

Did you hear that? “”He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. And I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.”

The Promises of God are numerous and He is Always Faithful to do exactly what He says. There are many other Promises of God. Search them out and feed your Soul with His Presence!
